Luxury hotel with fantastic views of the lake. Spacious room with balcony to watch the stars at night and enjoy the lake view during the day. The jacuzzi bathtub is a plus. Appreciate the little block of broken chocolate given every evening as a sweet. ☺️ The restaurant was nice as well - expect fine dining (quality and portions) and a menu that is limited to several choices only. Service is much better than expected given expectations of labour shortages in QT and NZ generally - Better than most we have experienced in NZ (incl 5 star hotels in Auckland). Hotel rooms are clean. Staff are generally friendly, well groomed and helpful. Great hotel if your budget permits.

If you are contemplating other hotels in Queenstown, do consider the Rees. It really is a cut above in so many ways. They do have a hotel shuttle to take you to and from the town but it's nice being just that little bit out of town. Beautiful unobstructed lake views, excellent service, fabulous food and the room is exceptional. I stayed for 3 nights in a lake view hotel room which was delightful. I can only imagine how other rooms are. The bed was amazing, bathroom was perfect with quality toiletries and amenities. I enjoyed every moment I spent at the Rees - in the beautiful lobby bar, the restaurant, walking along the lake, and in my room. It was classy & sublime!

*Avoid at all costs - this property masquerades as a 5-star hotel but is run as a motel* Top reasons to not book noting the average rate is $500/night - 1. Your lake view room actually is a ‘driveway’ view room. You see cars being parked, and entering and exiting the property. No privacy whatsoever. 2. When you ask for another room, you are taken to a room already occupied by other guests. The door is opened without knocking. Imagine the shock on their faces and ours! 3. You are told that the booking system is not working well and a paper reconciliation needs to be done to figure out if there is a vacant room - despite being quoted an hour earlier that occupancy rates for the week are 60% 4. After waiting for another hour you are told that no rooms are available. All vacant rooms are dirty and housekeeping only comes the next day. 5. You cannot escalate or make a complaint as there is no ‘manager’ on site and everyone there is so junior that they are incapable of making a decision. This was what we experienced in the first 3 hours. Mortified for what lies ahead for the next two days

We absolutely loved our stay at The Rees, and cannot wait to return next winter! The staff were all so friendly and helpful, right from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. From front of house, restaurant, bar, concierge services - everyone was excellent. Special mention to Gabriel - for whom nothing was too much trouble. Our room was lovely - with every little detail thought of. Gorgeous food and drinks in the mini bar, beautiful products in the bathroom, as well as super comfortable beds and a view I could not believe - it was so magnificent. The food at breakfast was delicious, and we loved our pre dinner drink and cheese board every night in the lounge area, watching the light fade over the lake. The shuttle into town every hour was also such a help. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will be back,

We had an absolutely amazing time at Hotel Rees.The staff were all so friendly and accommodating and provided 5 star service, nothing was a problem.Our villa was stunning and so comfortable.The restaurant was delicious, both breakfast and dinner. The moment we checked in all the way to check out was a breeze. All the staff were awesome. They made our stay felt like home. They were so polite and gracious. The Management upgraded us to one of the most beautiful rooms I have seen. It's immaculate and spacious. The breakfast was superb. One of the best meals I had. Thank you Rees for making our Anniversary so special and giving us the most delightful stay in Queenstown. We will be back for my husband's birthday this May. Please send my regards to all the staff. My husband and I had booked to stay here for our honeymoon, and on arrival they gave us a complimentary upgrade on our room. I was particularly thankful for this, as I then broke my ankle later that first day, and spent much more time in the room than planned. The staff were wonderful and friendly, and made nothing feel like too much of an ask. We ate at the restaurant, as well as having after hours room service, and the food was superb. We both very much enjoyed our stay, and are already planning to stay there again for our second attempt at a honeymoon. Cannot recommend them highly enough.
